You're asking about the impact of using a GTX 680 as a dedicated PhysX card alongside your GTX 980. It's a bit off-topic, but I'll cover the performance implications.

It's a theoretical scenario I test with identical GPUs, right?

Occasionally yes, other times no. When the hair feels too fragile to see clearly, it requires care.

In games such as Witcher, it's best to experience them at the highest quality you can get. For casual viewing, around 60 frames per second is fine, but for online play or lobby sessions, aiming for maximum FPS is ideal.

I really liked working with tressfx in Tomb Raider even though it caused the frame rate to drop to around twenty seconds in some moments

It doesn't add up, especially with Lara Croft looking worn but still flawless. The idea of her being British and having perfect hair feels too perfect. Maybe if these kinds of games get more advanced—like with VR—it could become more believable.

It varies. I'd aim below 60 FPS for physics in a Batman game, but usually it's not necessary.

Which titles? Which releases? And what kind of FPS are you aiming for? I can provide solid responses.

The concept of falling below 60 fps was purely theoretical. This discussion depends on the belief that applying these changes would lead to that frame rate drop, which isn't happening in this case.

It hinges on what matters most to you, doesn't it? Are you seeking a top-tier frame rate for a butter-smooth feel or prefer a solid experience paired with impressive graphics?
