I'm facing restrictions with my 240mm AIO, so I'm not able to run the 10900K at 5.2GHz across all cores. I need to lower the frequency slightly—maybe to 5.1GHz on every core with a ring ratio of 4.8GHz and 1.35v LLC on Turbo. The performance remains around 60-80% depending on the game. I'm wondering if using 5GHz for both cores and ring would be more effective than a 5.1GHz/4.9GHz OC setup. Since I mainly play CS:GO, keeping the CPU clock stable matters. When loading games like FH5, the CPU stays at 100c for ten seconds, then drops to 4.2GHz and quickly returns to 5.1GHz or 5.2GHz with a temperature drop back to around 70°C.
CSGO typically runs on around four full cores. My idea for Epeen in-game is to turn off the HT first. It’s not necessary for CSGO and should slightly boost performance just by disabling it. This should also lower thermals, which in turn reduces the v-core load. A higher cache frequency (ring) leads to a higher Vcore. Try to maintain the cache frequency near 300MHz compared to CPU frequency for optimal stability. Additionally, reduce the core count to eight straight threads, keep HT off, and monitor temperatures. If everything works well, stick with the 5.2GHz boost and see if you can squeeze another 100MHz from it.
I configured my 10900KF with these parameters: Active Turbo Table - up to 4 cores, 53x to 52x 8+ cores, 51x fixed Vcore at 1.385v (details later). LLC Turbo sits in the middle range. Cache/Ring/Uncore - 48x when CPU is busy, dropping to ~1.29v under light load; it stays higher for stability during console games that demand a few cores and occasionally hit 5.3ghz. For modern PC games, it holds at 51x and runs smoothly. During shader tweaks or startup, it can briefly reach full speed but doesn’t linger. I’m using a 360mm AIO, which isn’t enough for heavy sustained CPU use at these settings. It works fine for my needs; a 240mm would be better if you want it to run at around 4.8ghz most of the time.
Yeah but I also play other games and edit sometimes so having 10 cores are useful When all cores are on 5.2GHz I cant get the Ring to be within 300MHz, the AIO just can't handle it Its a 3 year old Corsair h100x Been on my 4.1GHz i5 3550 and on my 4.9GHz/5GHz 10600K Vccio and Vccsa both at 1.2v I'm just being bottlenecked my the AIO
On stock it operates at 4.9GHz on all cores with auto voltage, exceeding 1.35V and maintaining 88-90°C under full load. When using stock settings, manually set voltage around 1.2 and it stays at 4.9GHz with a peak temperature of 75°C. Keeping the ring and cores close together is recommended.
TVB offers up to 4.9ghz when it stays below 70c. After that it drops to 4.8ghz until it reaches its power ceiling or TJMax. This is based on the board meeting specs. If it holds stable at that voltage, it should work fine; otherwise, you might try running it at stock voltage or with a slight negative offset to check if temperatures or noise improve. I match @Guest 5150’s observation of a -300mhz ring, which is why I use 48x with a 51x all-core setup. It doesn’t seem worthwhile from a cost perspective. The investment in a higher-end AIO would be better used to sell the system and purchase a 12600k instead. This comes from someone who has spent extra on cooling for their 10900K—unless you’re into the thrill of it, go ahead. But from a performance standpoint, the return on investment isn’t strong.
I could try to tackle this since my 10900K on the 360 AIO maintains roughly 90-95°C in R23.
Opt for a slightly slower cache setup. I've maintained even performance, but this is solely for testing. In gaming, I maintain Ring Cache around 4.7ghz on a 5ghz CPU. 8700K 14nm. A higher cache speed helps with memory overclocking and boosts overall speed when paired properly. Keeping Ring at 4.8ghz works best with RAM at 3800mhz or higher.
