I activated HTML5 playback with add-ons and Google’s Firefox page, but it still reached only 30fps. I’m also seeking a more efficient desktop client since the site feels very chaotic and hard to navigate.
It works well, I just downloaded the app. How can I check if it's running at 60 frames per second?
Open Chrome as your main computer program. It’s almost the same as just having it installed.
I really dislike the mobile app. Yet my YouTube subscribers remain my priority. It bothers me when the app redirects to a "what to watch" screen instead of taking me straight to my subscriptions. If I truly cared about this, they’d track whether I used the page and collect all the data they gather. So I simply navigate directly to my subscriptions page whenever I open YouTube, avoiding unnecessary detours. The video reloading at the bottom right when returning is also bothersome—it doesn’t close cleanly. That’s just how it feels for me; everyone has different preferences. Personally, I’d still prefer using Firefox, but after the latest update their layout changed so much I can’t use it well. Chrome isn’t much better, though it manages syncing history between Android and desktop a bit better (especially since it’s a Google product), but I still don’t like it. The tabs disappear under the favorites bar, which is frustrating. At least there should be an option like Firefox does.
