I'm gathering a lot of information and trying to figure out what works best for my needs. I want to make sure I choose something reliable without worrying too much about overheating. Can I use an I7 or should I go with a higher-end I9? Also, the AMD 9 9900x seems like it could be an option.

Generally, chips in the same budget category tend to offer similar performance levels. The I7 and I9 models no longer represent their original specifications, such as core count and hyperthreading support. Currently, the Intel Ultra 7 265K shows slightly better passmark scores compared to the 9900X at a reduced cost.

This has made me switch my thoughts between the core 7 265 and the Ryzen 9 9900x. The applications you referenced are all demanding on the GPU, so consider Nvidia's RTX 5000 lineup as they're tailored for that use case. An RX9070XT works, but a friend mentioned problems with Da Vinci and an RX9060XT, pointing to driver issues. That said, it's recommended to match the GPU with an AMD Ryzen 9000 series processor.
