Your processor is significantly outdated. Windows 11 isn't compatible. The minimum supported CPU for Windows 11 is at least an Intel 8th Gen or newer, or an AMD Ryzen 2000 series or later.

I'll give it another try on a different port. I didn't realize that! Yes, I know... Win 11 isn't supported. I installed it on two old laptops already and it's working fine.

Your PC might be struggling because of an aging HDD, possibly a failing RAM unit, or the hard drive itself. If Windows 10 behaves similarly to what you're experiencing, it likely points to hardware problems. You could also test with a different USB stick. Always use the official creation utility to make a bootable drive, which generally works well across systems. Upgrading to Windows 11 can be challenging; it often requires newer drivers and may cause issues if updates occur later. It tends to slow down performance, especially on older hardware like Core 2 Quad CPUs. I’ve seen good results with systems using 4 and 8 GB DDR2 RAM on Windows 10, while 11 demands at least 8 GB and more is better.

the psu has been replaced before, i also tried another—same specs, 8gb ddr2 works fine, hdd is still in good shape. it lasted over five years in an unused old laptop, so it feels like brand new. but windows 10 isn’t compatible either; i can boot linux mint 20.1, but it wouldn’t help for school and doesn’t support some needed programs.

I switched to another port and it reached around 55 percent. Then I tried a port on the back.

You installed Windows 10, but it won’t boot properly. It opens the Windows logo but you’re not seeing any progress. Could be a corrupted installation, hardware issue, or driver problem. Try checking the BIOS settings, resetting the PC, or using a USB recovery tool.
