those tiny gadgets are really problematic. I believe this could definitely disrupt some features on the chip, though in the worst scenario it might not function properly at all. they don’t put them there just for show.

Confirm pins are present, but they're already on the base layer and won't increase production costs. SMD parts add expense because they wouldn't attach properly without proper placement.
