I visited myip.com from there, but it began to lag and become slow. No files were downloaded. It was mostly smooth except for occasional delays, though it generally worked well. Now the computer feels consistently slower.

Avoid running multiple antivirus programs simultaneously, especially AVAST and McAfee together. It’s better to use just one or switch to a reliable free scanner like Malwarebytes and Windows Defender. Disconnect from the internet during scans to prevent malware from broadcasting signals.

Remove all antivirus programs and execute the Microsoft offline defender scan. This method has been effective for me and should work for you as well. Avoid running sfc /SCANNOW in administrator mode to check for corrupt system files; if issues are found, the console will prompt a reboot.
