You can also use Curve Optimizer together with PBO. It appears under Advanced/AMD Overclocking settings. This tool assists in undervolting and lets you bypass the maximum boost clock limit. Check YouTube guides for more details. On my 5800X, the curve is set to all cores at -18, and the boost clock is +50, which pushes it to around 4.85GHz single core instead of the default 4.8, while lowering temperatures by about 10°C. The auto tuner acts as a basic manual overclock, though it doesn’t do much beyond that. For Ryzen, manual overclocking is mostly useful only for tasks with heavy multithreading.
4.55GHz peak during games? If the best core is weak, my 5900X hits 4.95 Then a 4060 isn't much better than a 2060, perhaps around 30% improvement—why did you choose that instead of at least a 4070? Not great value for the price and just 8GB VRAM...
From what I observed, that's about the maximum it reached, though some have mentioned setting it to 4.55 could have restricted performance. I removed that now and am preparing tests. At the time, the 4060 was within my budget and available on sale, while the 4070s were priced higher by 3-400. I hope to find a better option soon if prices continue to fall as they appear to do.
Intel, AMD and Nvidia are expected to announce new GPUs in the fall or third/fourth quarter. Prices may decrease even more due to multiple releases happening simultaneously and increased competition.
It seems like something is going wrong with the device, but every attempt to adjust settings only brings it back to the default. The CPU stays at 4GHz and it defaults to tpu1. I’m really frustrated right now—this thing is totally broken.
Your BIOS is current, and you haven’t reinitialized it prior to attempting the PBO/Curve optimizer activation.
When using ASUS software within the operating system, conflicts can occur and cause shutdowns. It might help to remove the software completely, following @Tegneren's advice.
