Hey there! I recently installed new RAM and went through a full system setup, but I haven’t done a configuration check in a while. I noticed my idle CPU temps hovering between 65°C and 72°C, which is pretty high. I initially thought the thermal paste might be the issue, but after double-checking, it seemed normal. A closer look revealed the CPU is consuming around 120 watts even at low load (15-20% CPU usage), which doesn’t make sense. I followed most standard procedures—updated BIOS, reset settings, reinstalled Windows—but nothing helped. Can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks in advance!
I stopped all high-demand tasks and achieved roughly 60 watts with a temperature around 50°C using 3% consumption.
I modified nothing in BIOS apart from enabling XMP and enabling the MSI Driver Installer. I'm verifying everything using hwinfo64.
Check the BIOS settings and reset everything to its original state. After that, enable XMP again. You can also capture a photo of the BIOS screen displaying the CPU power configuration if you wish.
