I’m checking my current setup: an i5 4670K with a GTX 1060 SCC, upgraded to 6GB RAM. The motherboard is MSI Z87-GD65 with 16GB DDR3, and I recently swapped my GPU a few days ago. I thought upgrading would boost performance from around 50 FPS to 1,000 and improve gameplay. However, I’m still seeing temperatures up to 70°C+, which is higher than the recommended range of 30-50°C. I added a base fan and switched to Corsair liquid cooling, but it hasn’t helped much. What should I do next?

How warm is it? Is the cooler connected correctly? Which one? Stock speeds?

the cooling setup: Corsair Hydro Series High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H60 required rubber grommets behind the MB during installation to avoid, what was, a loose rear bracket. it stayed snug against the CPU and registered on HWmonitor yet still operating above claimed levels. temperatures varied from 40-69°C. someone with a similar problem shared: "

The pump is receiving power, but it seems the SATA/Molex connector wasn't properly connected.

The ambient temperature is around 40°C, though it seems to spike to 60-70°C during gaming. I believed the connections were correct, but both plugs appear to be in the proper position.

Ambient refers to the surrounding air temperature around your PC. It's generally the room temperature.

Currently my ambient temperatures are fluctuating between 31-49°C across the four cores. I tried connecting a second CPU fan to see if it was faulty, but it seems the issue might be elsewhere. Are my other system metrics outdated and affecting cooling performance, or should I consider replacing the CPU cooler for better stability? Playing Battlefield 1 at full graphics with 60 FPS is doable, but I want to confirm the setup is optimal.

The card will remain safe at 70°C. Please inform the drivers.

the card reaches its limit at 75C but it stays idle around 40C. the cpu keeps running high in the 60s, that’s confusing. shouldn’t I be able to run everything smoothly on Ultra or High with solid FPS? even Star Wars, which used less power, is losing performance compared to Battlefield 1 now? what’s going on—should I try updating the drivers?
