It might work eventually, but it’s going to take a long time to start.

Hdd issues resolved. Upgrading to Windows 10 can be completed in about 40 minutes to an hour, and SSDs perform even better—excluding the download time. The choice will appear under settings/recovery.

HDD appears normal but seems full of issues. Once you go back to version 7, the partitions remain locked. Need assistance?

It seems you might have a virus activating BitLocker or something similar, possibly ransomware.

We haven’t installed anything in about a month, aside from the Windows 10 update.

Might have stayed quiet…or came online when you performed the upgrade. I understand Windows 10 wouldn’t lock drives by itself, unless someone accidentally powered it up and there were some clueless users on the system.

Any quick one I could put on a flash drive? I threw one of the HDDs in my PC and it is still locked. And no, both me and my dad are both tech savy and do not download shit

You'll need to try guessing the password carefully. Consider possible passwords, personal details, or anything else you might have stored. If a virus activated it, it likely saved the key somewhere BitLocker won't activate without it.

It seems a cryptocurrency malware has taken over your device. That explains the slow performance. Updating the operating system would normally be quick, but if it’s taking so long, there might be an issue with the storage drive. Your data could have been affected.
