Hello, I've been using a 11Mbps Wi-Fi connection for four years now. Recently, I switched to a 150Mbps Wi-Fi and connected my PC via LAN cable from the router. The device shows 100Mbps instead of the expected 1Gigabit. Both my PC (ASUS TUF FX504GD) and router (Huawei B312-926) have Gigabit ports, and I use 15m CAT5E cables. Based on Justin Ellis' information, enhanced Category 5 cables can reach up to 1000 Mbps. Could you help me resolve this issue? Thanks.
Cat5e and higher support gigabit speeds when all eight wires (four pairs) are intact. Any damaged wire reduces performance to 100Mbit.
Test another port on the router and use a different cable. Consider getting a network switch for distant wired devices. Verify adapter configurations as a backup.
I would purchase a fresh cable here just to confirm the gear is intact before assuming other factors are restricting performance.
