My computer seems to be in decent shape, but it's acting up in a way that's kind of impressive. I have an Intel i5 12600K with built-in UHD Graphics 770. If you're curious, try the guessing game. Then fill out the poll. Estimate your FPS in Minecraft 1.20.1 at 1440p with 170Hz "Fancy" settings? The hint says it's around 80 fps! What about Minecraft 1.18 at the same settings? Expect roughly 120 fps? That's quite high for non-optimized shaders on integrated graphics. And what about Fortnite and Rocket League? Probably around 30-70 FPS at those resolutions? Why am I seeing such high numbers with built-in graphics?!?!?!?!

These games run smoothly overall. Minecraft handles high frame rates well since it's mostly CPU-intensive. Recent Intel integrated graphics perform quite adequately.

Since Minecraft, Fortnite, and Rocket League—especially Minecraft—don’t demand high graphics, I’m using an i7-7820X with Sodium, Sildurs Extreme shaders, a 32-chunk render distance at 1080p. Even at my refresh rate of 165Hz, performance stays solid.

Minecraft is close to being ready to use Discord independently. It’s about 13 years old now. Using an iGPU and running the game engine from that era makes sense.

Many entry-level GPUs now dominate due to their superior performance, especially with modern iGPUs surpassing older cards. In Intel’s situation, they successfully updated from the HD630 to a better alternative. It’s always interesting how smoothly Oblivion played on my i5 4440 with the HD4600.

Sure, it makes sense that iGPU improvements are helping. Running shaders without heavy middleware feels impressive, even for older titles.

I am excited to see further progress with iGPUs to really push further into the entry level PC gaming scene. The money and power savings could be great for the entire hobby - this progress in recent years that have given us things like your machine and the steamdeck is brilliant!

Intel has invested significantly in their graphics processing units since the HD2000 era. Back then, you could even run BF3 using integrated graphics on Ivy Bridge.

Your unique style is really funny! Intel definitely puts a lot of effort into it, and those small onboard GPUs are quite impressive now.
