The board was purchased from eBay, but I also took the PC to a nearby repair shop for a check-up. They told me the CPU was dead, though I’m not sure why and don’t trust their explanation.

I also had some thermal paste in the socket, removed it during reapplication, and tried it without a cooler to see if it would work.

It's common for AMD CPUs to behave this way. If you didn't damage any pins, I wouldn't be too shocked if the CPU was the issue. You'll likely discover otherwise.

I went through a frustrating process fixing an AMD CPU, the R5 3600. Frequently I encountered WHEA 18 Cache Hierarchy warnings while using it with a used RX5600XT card. Initially I blamed the chip, followed by an RMA. After returning it to the original seller, the replacement arrived with a new serial number. Despite the change, my PC still experienced crashes with this new CPU. Eventually I realized the issue was likely with the GPU, not the processor. It’s a bit surprising that what seemed faulty could have been fine all along.
