I was employed at Xfinity in a CommTech role, handling installations and troubleshooting. I’m hoping they provided an XB6 (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:...-07-11.jpg) or you wouldn’t get Gigabit speeds. First, there’s a system file on the router that limits speed; if this was a newer upgrade, they might not have refreshed the config, so you’ll need to confirm. Second, there might be interference causing signal issues—low or high strength reaching your home. A technician should inspect your lines (they should have been checked during the upgrade). Third, ensure all connections are secure, including coax into the wall and any outdoor components. If anything is loose, it could affect performance. Contact Xfinity to verify your config file and request a technician if needed. You shouldn’t be billed for their visit if they’re at fault.
What model of the combo unit were they providing? Check if they can transfer the 1Gbps configuration file to it. It seems the incorrect file was uploaded. Remember, you're also paying a rental charge for that combo unit. You might consider purchasing a D3.1 modem for $150-$200 and then getting a router.
