Only when you open the hood and experiment without full understanding. If you follow instructions from the internet without knowing, things will fail. The person who keeps messing with Linux is the one who breaks it. Changing settings to improve Windows performance usually leads to more issues. Trying to fix problems by tweaking more parts or swapping system files from unofficial sources will only make things worse. Those who think they know enough to cause trouble are often the ones doing it. (I've been there too. The key is learning on simple systems where mistakes aren't permanent.)
