The change was immediate; everything operated seamlessly, leaving a strong impression and making me steer clear of games capped at 30 frames per second.

I recall the jump from 30 to 60 wasn't particularly impressive because I'd already played older titles for a while and had seen 60 multiple times before making the switch—I had enough time to adjust. But moving from 60 to 144 was truly one of the most exciting moments in my PC gaming journey. As a competitive player, I've been eyeing 144Hz displays for some time. In the weeks before purchasing the monitor, I started noticing how sluggish the 60Hz refresh rate felt. Switching to 144 offered such a noticeable improvement.

Maybe FOV could help? A higher frame rate makes camera movement smoother, and if the field of view is close to low it can cause discomfort when using a mouse compared to a controller—especially since you can't adjust the camera speed as easily with a controller. For me, 60 fps is usually better than 30. It's okay if I'm playing with a gamepad and the game isn't too fast, like in Souls games.

60fps only matters if it's smooth, a jump to or from 30fps feels worse. Still, 30fps stands out in racing games and Star Citizen; I've lowered my refresh rate to 50hz for better stability.

I moved from Xbox to PC roughly 18 months ago. I set up a Phenom ii x4 and GTX660, and my first game on PC was Borderlands 2. Wow, the difference is amazing! The only adjustment was getting used to the mouse and keyboard, but once I got comfortable, my Xbox sat idle for about a year and a half.
