I upgraded my 3470 to 4.3GHz and had three pads burn or pit, but didn’t notice it until I switched to a 3770K at 4.2GHz for three months. After reapplying the driver and pushing performance further, I reached 4.5GHz with a Cryo Original M9i 100mm cooler—everything worked fine. However, the hottest core was running 17–20°F hotter than the coldest. I reduced it to 4.4GHz and used it for three to four months before my new Mugan 5 arrived. That’s when I realized I could achieve direct die cooling again, but noticed similar issues on the 3770K in one spot. Could enabling PLL overvoltage be causing this? The main change between the 4.2GHz and 4.5GHz was adjusting the ASUS P8Z68 Pro/Gen3 settings.

I've been away from pinout diagrams lately. I did some work with the socket 940 pin (server, not AM2) for that extra v-core. According to what I read, VSS is a ground. The other two are a bit unclear, but I think I can figure them out now. My vision isn't great right now, but it's helping! 😅

all the components are present, I checked to make sure they stayed in place. I saw another drawing indicating two pins are connected to BCLK. It’s unclear whether the PLD overvoltage adjustment affects BCLK timing.

After discovering a single pitted pad on my 3770k and removing it, the device now starts in 5 seconds instead of the usual delay. I assumed the slowness was due to my four HDDs, but it seemed similar when I first installed it.
