No problem. If you saved and set up Windows 10 on that day or later, you receive it without cost.

Technically, the device uses your Windows 7 or 8 login, which is hosted on Microsoft's cloud servers. With a Microsoft account linked, your credentials are connected to that account. After installing Windows 10 (choose "I don't give one" if prompted), creating an account tied to your Microsoft ID will trigger automatic activation. Without a linked Microsoft account, the key remains in Microsoft's servers but is associated with a unique identifier derived from your hardware. Changes to your hardware after installation may prevent activation. If no valid key can be generated due to insufficient hardware details, you can access the activation settings via Start > Settings > Update & Security > Activation and enter your Windows key. For pre-built systems, the Windows 8 key is embedded in the UEFI chip.

I've consistently relied on NIR soft. It doesn't suit OEM projects (PCs pre-installed with Windows at purchase or when a MAC/KMS key was applied... only if you obtained Windows).

If the original operating system was Win8/.1, it will turn on automatically after reinstall. For a Windows 7 system, you might have to type in a key found on the COA sticker at the bottom. I think it’s likely a Win8 or newer version. Just install and it should function properly. You can also use a non-branded installation with a pure ISO file, which worked recently on a Fujitsu laptop.

Hey everyone, both Windows versions started on their own. Everything seems to be running smoothly.
