See my dad's computer setup... back when folders stored hidden shortcuts, and he'd just move them around until half his desktop was full of nested folders, shortcuts, papers, and those embarrassing password files. If someone needs such a system, they're often only reachable by a laptop fire to help.

Starting with Windows 2000, I concealed every icon on the desktop because they weren't needed and kept the interface tidier. Shadowbyte's guide explains the process.
