I own an A320M asrock board with a Ryzen 3 1200. I'm thinking about upgrading the CPU but need guidance. I just want to keep gaming at a midrange level without problems with swapping. It's not a major upgrade, just a bit better performance. I haven't tried any games yet, but I'd like some advice. Thanks!

Based on your budget, 1700, 2600, and 3600 are solid choices. Don't forget to verify your motherboard's CPU compatibility and consider updating the BIOS.

You're thinking about upgrading your CPU and possibly the motherboard. Since you're new to DIY, start with research and small steps. Consider what your current setup needs before making changes.

I checked the A320M on the ASROC site and it looks compatible with Ryzen 3000 series chips (likely with a BIOS update). Please verify yourself, as I’m not entirely confident about the exact board. It’s best to stay under 3600 MHz; I wouldn’t recommend anything above that since I don’t know how the board would handle the larger CPUs. A new motherboard could cost around $300–350, plus you’d need a new graphics card if you want one.

Are you experiencing performance issues or are you simply looking to enhance your setup? If the latter, I recommend waiting until Black Friday for potential discounts.

I'm doing fine right now. This sounds like a solid plan. I never realized I was missing this opportunity. I might have missed out on additional upgrades. Perhaps I'll also get some extra cooling fans. While playing games, my CPU can spike to around 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

This CPU is absolutely amazing. You won’t need any more fans because it offers little extra benefit while increasing noise levels.
