Yes, you can stream.
Hello everyone, I’m checking if my PC can handle streaming. With an i5 2500K, FX HD6850, 8GB RAM, and internet speeds around 5-6 Mbps upload and 15-15 Mbps download, I should be fine for streaming on Twitch. It’s a solid setup, but I’m not sure if I need upgrades. I’m ready to stream, but I’d like some tips on recommended software too!
Yes, you should consider upgrading your components for smoother streaming. Right now, 720p should work if your current setup meets the minimum requirements, but better performance will make a noticeable difference.
CPU is the primary issue here. Using an external video encoder should still work. Streaming at 720p with 60fps is recommended. OBS is a free option, though XSplit offers 720p at 30fps and is simpler to use. If you prefer a paid plan, it costs around $5 per month.
It probably won’t overshadow the CPU and RAM. Still, those i7 threads and cores are necessary for smooth streaming. Streaming programs can noticeably slow things down.
6mbit up works well, anything above 4000kbit is ideal. Streaming at 30fps in 720p is perfectly acceptable.
Verify if your motherboard includes quicksync support; its impact on performance is minimal.
720p is acceptable, but 1080p won't work well. You'd need to move up to a 4690K motherboard for smooth 1080p streaming with quick sync and OBS.
