I understand your concern. It seems you're considering using an APU to power a monitor while running a TV on a separate GPU for different resolutions. This setup is possible but may require careful configuration and testing. Make sure your system supports the necessary drivers and that the monitor and TV are compatible with each other.

You can operate three monitors using just the RX580. I recommend it. Resolutions aren't crucial; you can use various aspect ratios and sizes. As long as each monitor gets the appropriate resolution, everything will function smoothly. I've used three monitors at different resolutions for years without any issues.

You need two HDMI ports, but the card seems to have just one. Maybe a DP to HDMI adapter would work.

That would be much simpler than attempting to make both cards function at the same time.

I didn’t consider using an adapter. It seems the second question is whether I really need the RX580 or if a splitter on the HDMI would work instead, keeping both screens at the same resolution. The TV streams Netflix or movies from the hard drive, while the monitor handles basic web apps I use for remote starters.

When your motherboard supports multiple monitors, you can achieve this without the RX580. (Ensure manual is enabled in BIOS if it doesn't work.) A splitter will display identical images on both screens.

I get it now, that would be redundant. I believe I already have a splitter ready, so I could give that a shot first—no need to spend on a GPU if it’s not necessary.

Yes, both the integrated GPU in your APU and your separate discrete GPU can send signals to different monitors at the same time. You’ll need to adjust a BIOS setting for this functionality.
