Used W7 consistently; discussions about W10 sparked frustration over its spyware and interface issues. I enjoy W7, yet question whether a home PC can thrive on a Linux distribution. Internet Mail Office Gaming includes Steam, indie titles, and games with low graphics demands, though occasionally a solid title like World of Tanks appears—requires a decent GPU setup.

For most users, you won’t perceive significant differences unless you engage in heavy gaming. I recommend giving it a try with a live disk or dual-boot setup before fully switching over.

Use solid-state drives for large data storage and change between Windows and Linux using hot-swappable SSDs in the front bay.

Keep in mind that each complaint about windows only represents a small fraction of the total population.

Sure, avoid relying on very old equipment or completely new tech that's just out of the gate.

For each Windows user infected by a virus, many remain unaffected. Still, the single case feels alarming and dangerous enough to make me avoid Windows altogether.

That’s not accurate. The variation between systems lies more in how users interact with them rather than any inherent lack of security tools. Most infections happen due to human error, not because the OS itself is weak.

It seems like you're asking about the challenges of seamless conversion. Every situation is unique, making it hard to provide a clear response.

I have antivirus software installed on my system, specifically Symantec Endpoint Protection for Linux. The Linux environment only has minor threats. I can still download large amounts of pirated files containing Windows malware, but they fail to execute. It’s extremely secure—most users rely on firewalls, which aren’t even necessary on a WPA-protected home network. Linux server administrators frequently encounter malware. How do you believe criminals distribute their malicious software? They likely upload it to websites that are hosted on Linux or Unix servers. However, most of these sites actually contain Windows-based malware, which they remove before reaching consumers.
