It seems the readings didn’t lie. Likely a failing AIO.

It's typical for moving parts. The pump blades had loose connections, causing them to shift and create grinding noise. Eventually, they realigned and everything worked again.

The tubes are positioned at the top to avoid pump starvation. The pump runs quietly now, and temperatures are normal. Previously, it reached 100 degrees, and shutdowns occurred even during a full CPU burn test. I’m feeling confused and upset.

You're on the right track, but you're ignoring the clear direction. The 120mm AIO isn't strong enough—it's struggling. It's hard to see why you'd want to improve it further.

Thank you for your input. It seems the system behaves unpredictably, stopping and restarting without clear reasons. I understand your concern, and I’ll keep an eye on this to avoid further issues. If a problem persists, I’ll switch to a different model just to be safe.

Ah, I understand you're talking about unusual issues with pumps and starters. Over the years, working with tropical fish and various pumps has shown me how tricky it can be when something isn't running smoothly. A failing pump might not spin consistently, possibly due to a blockage or misalignment. In my experience, worn bushings can lead to uneven movement of parts like the rotor and stator.

In pumps, the impeller shaft is often protected by magnets; if these fail, the motor can vibrate or stall. Sometimes I’ve noticed the impeller moving erratically—like it’s stuck in a spot—and shaking it helps it turn again. It seems like these magnetic systems are common, but direct drives are less frequent.

You've never experienced something rotating in a circular pattern that feels off? Like a ceiling fan—low speed works, but high speeds make it shake like it's about to fall? Either way, this is your deal. You'll need to get a new CPU cooler eventually, so I'm wrapping up here. Don't waste too much on the next one—it's an 8-year-old CPU.

This has occurred frequently with my inexpensive water fountain dish for the cats.

Repeatedly turning off and restarting the system likely released debris from the pump. Once the pump stops completely, it needs extra energy to restart. If it's producing sound, an obstruction is present. Halting a powerful fan or motor will cause loud noises. If the pump is stuck and not moving coolant through the tubes or radiator, the radiator won't get cool, and the fan can't remove heat effectively. The CPU won't power down immediately; it will throttle to avoid overheating. If lowering power doesn't reduce temperature, the system may shut down automatically. Watching high-end CPUs like i9-14900K operate without limits can cause damage—temperatures may rise to dangerous levels and trigger shutdown.
