Yes, many people still purchase Dawn of War 2.

DoW II has been a major letdown for me, and I’d easily give it back if Steam had offered refunds retroactively at launch. It isn’t a solid strategy game and misses many top factions from the 40K universe, except for the Tyranids, which they only included superficially. Consider playing Dawn of War: Dark Crusade instead—it truly represents the best in the series.
Yeah, as far as the whole DW40K series goes, i didnt really like Soulstorm, when compared to Dark Crusade. But sadly, since Steams refund support is a bunch of bots, they wont refund me because i already tried the game for over 2 hours, no matter the issue and especially because they consider the DLC's microtransactions -.-, and i really like the game, but i miss the strategy of building towers and bases, and i can no longer play defensively as much as i could in Dawn of war here :/. Imperial Guardsmen here feel pretty weak, and the Orks stronger than Space marines ...! But ye, sadly i could have not purchased the Dawn of War franchise pack, since it was 13€ more expensive and for that i could have gotten 2 different games. I wouldnt mind at all getting the Dark Crusade, but only if it was below 4€, which i think it isnt right now, but ill check. Overhaul tough, im starting to get used to the game, but heck, the campaign in this game (Dawn of War 2 atleast) is quite difficult on hard already, cant imagine its hardest. What bugs me the hardest is indeed that stupid Steam "You cant play Skirmish, without internet", but then again its rare to not have an active internet connection where i live anyways, so it really isnt a problem for me. Really wish they get that Dawn of War 3 going, and make it more like Dawn of War 40K Dark Crusade, than DW2.
Norwegian, the game wasn't that impressive when it launched, but it's a lot improved now. They completely reworked the balance system, fixed several issues, and then introduced Chaos, Imperial Guard, and Grey Knights in the Elite version. Still missing are Tau, Necrons, and Dark Eldar. No announcement has been made yet, but DoW 3 is in development. In an interview, it was mentioned that Relic had many staff members focused on something different from Company of Heroes, and they weren't confirming what it was. Given that they're either developing CoH or DoW, DoW is the likely focus. The creator of Space Marine no longer works there, and there have been hints suggesting no dedicated team for Space Marine. If DoW 3 arrives, I’d hope they added more base-building elements from DoW 1 and polished the combat in DoW 2, since their fighting style is superior to most other RTS games.
Oh wow, thank the heavens it wasn't Warhammer 40K Space Marines. I didn't get involved with the original Warhammer vibe, which is huge—full-on warfare with big groups of soldiers, heavy troops, and vehicles. Even the Warhammer figurines are all about massive battles and commanding units. Trying to play something like Halo with Dawn of War didn't turn out great.
And that's the issue, besides the building shortage, Tau and DE are my main groups. Even with them in multiplayer only, I wouldn't care if the campaign remained just plain nonsense.
The absence of base construction issues only became noticeable during launch when players from the earlier title raised concerns. Those who actually engage with the game don’t prioritize building bases. Without them, attention shifts entirely to micro-management and strategy, explaining the game’s superior combat experience compared to other RTS titles. Exclusive content like the Space Marine campaign appears only in vanilla and the Chaos Rising expansion, offering a choice to play any faction in the Retribution campaign.
