The 4-core i7 is no longer suitable. Are you certain you're committing to a technology that's quickly becoming obsolete? The price of this older i7 matches that of a modern Ryzen 3600 with six cores. Consider the situation.

I’m wondering if I might find an overclockable chip that could be useful. Maybe through a marketplace like Kijiji? If it’s affordable enough, it should be worth the effort. With a Ryzen 3, I’d need to replace the CPU, install a new motherboard, and add some RAM since I only have 3 DDR4 slots. In the end, it might be simpler to look for something older and more readily available. I really don’t want to wait too long for shipping.

I just got the latest AMD mobile card, the AM3+ model, which already includes a 6-core FX. I haven’t been using it much so far. I’ve been focusing on selling AMD parts and sticking with Intel, though I didn’t really plan to switch that way.

Once the price was quickly confirmed, here’s what it would cost to set up an AM4 board. Mostly because I don’t have any RAM left—those chips are pricier than the motherboard. I believe I could find a 4790k for less than that and still get at least two years of use. It won’t be perfect yet, but it should last. Some folks say it’s still viable as a dual-chip setup, so don’t worry too much about it being outdated right away.
