The components listed should work without a BIOS update. However, if you need a compatible CPU for an upgrade, you’ll still require a compatible chip rather than a straightforward replacement.

You should simply transfer the latest version of the software to a USB drive and install it there. You won’t need a CPU running without the updated BIOS.

He used a Core i7 4770K for two years. With that BIOS version, an update probably isn't necessary. @SupaKomputa

I downloaded the 4590 bios just in case. Do I need to unzip it? Probably, I think.

The BIOS support for that CPU is outdated; you should request an upgrade to the most recent BIOS version.

This motherboard is actually arriving soon, probably before I receive your response.

I didn’t think I could handle it at that time, but I’m really concerned about when it arrives. If I can install one of the two CPUs I have, and manage to update with what I have, I’ll probably do it myself. I’m pretty sure this person is already on the way. It’s around $60, so hopefully everything works out.

It's unclear what will happen. Please check the official ASUS website for the BIOS update instructions. Hope they have made the necessary improvements.
