The XTU model doesn't work with the 11th Gen G7 series. It won't power on. Voltage control and other features are off. Not recommended for enthusiasts.

It was their inexpensive solution to address the Plundervolt security issue. Simplifying the process made it more manageable. Correcting this matter would have required excessive expense.

That’s a weak justification. It seems the issue involved the Thunderbolt vulnerability, which required special hardware access to exploit, and that alone doesn’t explain everything. They could simply bypass security measures or steal the drive.
