I recently purchased several components: ROG Strix z490-e Gaming motherboard, Intel i9-10900F CPU, Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 memory at 4000MHz, and I noticed my RAM wasn’t reaching its full speed. I discovered I needed to enable XMP in the BIOS settings. After doing that, everything seemed normal in the BIOS, but my computer would freeze for 20-30 seconds before attempting to boot again. I’m confused about what’s happening and could really use some assistance. I’ve checked online for solutions, but I’m not getting clear answers. I updated the BIOS from version 0607 to 2004, yet the issue persists. Could enabling MCE or CPU_OV help? Is my RAM faulty, or is there a problem with the motherboard or memory module? If anyone can walk me through this, I’d be very grateful.

Increase VCCIO/VCSSA to 1.2, begin at 3600, initiate boot, maintain training at 3600, if successful proceed to BIOS and attempt 4000.

Thank you for your message. It seems the settings are not visible, possibly due to a configuration issue. You mentioned needing to enable CPU_OV before proceeding. Would you like guidance on how to access those settings?

Several boards feature two XMP configurations, typically labeled 1 and 2, but often only one functions properly, which could be the problem.

System Agent controls the memory controller voltage and is often marked as Vccsa. Turn on XMP, but input a frequency slightly below it (around 3600MHz) for automatic memory frequency detection. Confirm the 3600MHz setting and also adjust the memory voltage manually. You can also retrieve the XMP profile from the SPD table in the BIOS. If timings appear incorrect during auto mode, edit them directly in the timings menu.

I plan to try it in the morning and will follow up soon. I’m not sure why I’m stuck on changing voltages, but I need to rest and get back to work tomorrow. Your support has been really helpful—I hope you can resolve this for me. Thanks!

It appears the device caps performance at around 3200 and that’s causing issues. It’s working at 3000 now, which is close enough, but it shouldn’t stop there. The voltage is correctly set to 1.35V.
