I managed to increase the voltage, but I’m not sure it’s the correct approach. Stability issues persist at 3066MHz and I’m struggling above 3200MHz. I tried contacting ASUS by phone, but they seemed unhelpful. Trying to figure out what you mean, Mister Woof—time is running short. Perhaps saving a screenshot of the BIOS could help me guide you more effectively.

The message suggests checking voltage settings for VCCSA and the system agent. It notes proximity to the board under CPU VCCIO and CPU System Agent. Default values aren't specified, but adjusting up to about 1.2V is recommended.

You unlikely to hit DDR4-4000. DDR4-3400 should work, though. DDR4-4000 is a high-end overclock; it would require a top 5% to 10% Intel processor to succeed. The CPU's Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) might struggle with it. Make sure you're using the correct RAM slots—usually 2 and 4. Also, don't enable CPU_OV (CPU OverVolt).

Don't stress about delayed replies, I'm quite busy too and only reach this thread occasionally during the day. Your support has been really helpful. You're right about the general setup of my BIOS, and now that you've pointed out what to adjust, I'll increase the voltage and timing gradually while boosting the MHz. Currently I'm running at 3200MHz, which is impressive for me. I'll keep updating you on my progress. I remember I should avoid exceeding 1.4, correct? Safe to stop there, I think? @-rascal- Your concern was valid—I was worried the chip wouldn't handle it. My target was 3600MHz, and that would have been perfect. Thanks for confirming I don’t need to enable CPU_OV. It’s still a bit of a 'what if' in my mind, but you’ve cleared that. Appreciate it! Also, why are the slots 2-4 relevant? Is it about how the voltage flows or something similar? My brain can only grasp so much. I suspect they’re likely in 1-3 anyway. It really matters whether they’re in 2-4. It helps to reference your experience for the update. From what I understand, my 10900KF handled 4000 on four sticks, but it's possible i7 or i5 models have tighter IMC ranges. With a bit of aggressive VCCA/SA tuning, reaching 3600 seems achievable, and hitting 3200 should be straightforward now. My 8th-gen chip could do that on a 4-stick kit at 3200. Your wife's i7-8700 non-K and your son's i5-9400 also manage 4x8 and 2x8 kits at 3200, though results can vary by processor. Always test and adjust accordingly.
