Prices for first and second generation Ryzen have dropped significantly, making combinations with a B450 board and current low DDR4 rates highly competitive. Sure, I have a Dell PowerEdge 2900 (III) at a very low price. I boosted the RAM, added a graphics card, and managed to get it working for a short time.
They’re all solid chips, with the 1680v2 being the sole 8c/16t choice I’m aware of. The others are 6c/12t, which still work well unless your job demands more than six cores. I’m running my 4930K as the primary while the larger build is still in development.
