My concern is balancing performance and cost. x99 tends to perform better with M.2, DDR4, and top processors, but it also supports DDR4 which is more expensive than DDR3 and usually more costly. I'm also curious about the typical durability of these boards and how they hold up over time.

These services exist to offer a straightforward purchase option, like buying an AM4 chip.

My budget is 220 USD for the entire PC build. I have some older Xeons at 15 each, plus I already own the PSU and GPU (which is an HD 5870).

It seems like you're considering the X79 option. You might prefer a $100 R7 1700 model, but if you locate one, pairing it with a B350 or B450 board plus RAM could help reach that price point.

It was close to the cost before, but it's currently around that amount on ALEXIEXPRESS. Prices have risen somewhat overall.

I discovered options around 150 USD. Having extra would make sense, but the bundle is near 210 USD and I’d still need RAM and a case.

Absolutely, because of the pandemic prices have risen pretty much everywhere.

Absolutely, I’d also consider that option, though such prices aren’t common in my area.
