It's interesting to know you've worked with a group that offers add-ons and mods for some time.

It really varies. I’d prefer a mod that alters the game meaningfully—like texture updates or major gameplay changes—but I wouldn’t spend money on a Nyancat model in VRChat.

Well the hard part is that as someone who has played many mods I can fairly say there are mods ranging from horrible to amazing and I would be hard press to pay for a mod unless I knew ti was the latter. If there was a way to implement a trail period I would be more more inclined to buy one that I had tried.

They should be created by the company that distributes the game. No way to get money from someone making it up in their basement. Donating would be another matter, but it really depends.

It seems you're concerned about potential consequences leading to restrictions on mods.

It would likely become DLC by that stage, wouldn't it?

Mostly people contribute to large initiatives, old portal tales about Mel for Portal 2 and the Half-Life 2 update

You question the fairness of paying when work is already done, regardless of who performed it—whether by the company or an external contractor.

Sure, it's okay if the cost feels reasonable. I'm not a big supporter of the Creation Club's credit method—maybe they should offer monthly or yearly plans instead.
