Witcher 3 and Gsync flicker issue
Witcher 3 and Gsync flicker issue
Has anyone observed strong flickering with Gsycn concerning the backgrounds or sky in Witcher 3? Gsync struggles with static displays, mainly during loading screens where an image remains without refreshing while the bar loads. However, with Witcher 3, similar issues appear on background and sky images. I’m curious if this is related to Gsync or if it’s a hardware concern. I’m using two 980 graphics cards in SLI with a 5820k overclocked to 4.3ghz at 4K on an Acer XB280HK, running everything via Ultra. I achieve great FPS but the flickering makes me disable Gsycn. When it’s off, everything works normally, just like with a standard monitor.
The OSD in Afterburner and the EVGA tuner affect my FPS, so I avoid them unless I need to test or adjust for higher performance.
I'm experiencing the same issue with a setup very close to yours—980 in and 2500k on an Acer XB280HK monitor. At lower frame rates below 55 fps with Gsync enabled, I see significant flickering. When Gsync is disabled, the display remains stable. This is the only game I've encountered with this problem, and I'm hoping for a patch to resolve it.
It's interesting to understand why some games recommend overclocking the CPU, even though they claim it's not a CPU-heavy title. Your experience with GPU overclocking and SLI performance boosts shows you're aware of the impact on hardware. Let's explore why CPU overclocking might matter in certain situations.
It's not essential to boost your CPU speed. You don't have to do it.
Different setup, I own an XB270HU. It's an Acer model with 144Hz and 1440p IPS display. After about 78 hours of playing The Witcher 3, I've noticed minimal flicker in backgrounds and skies across all zones. It seems stable, possibly a panel concern rather than G-Sync. Could be an SLI issue or a 60Hz TN panel?
