Observed that Linux Mint started using just two cores during boot. After resetting the CMOS, everything functioned normally. Thought it might be an OS issue rather than a BIOS problem. Appreciate your assistance!
It’s about Ryzen Master only. You don’t have to reinstall Windows completely. I noticed you mentioned you can’t get into safe mode, which means the system won’t boot normally. You’ll need to explain this further. Press F8 repeatedly until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu. Choose your boot device and press F8 again to enter safe mode. Once there, turn off Ryzen Master from starting up. It’s overriding your custom settings at startup and causing crashes. That’s what it’s doing.
It required multiple attempts and some chipset and Ryzen updates to make it function correctly on the B450 + 2700X. It supports PPT and EDC limits instantly. I learned that SenseMi Technology can handle increased limits with PBO enabled, but no extra frequency boost beyond 200mhz. Keeping the CPU under 70°C would allow all cores to run at 200mhz boost naturally. This aligns with the recommended temperature for optimal performance. For the 2700X, all cores stayed active during idle and two cores ran at 4350mhz until EDC limits were reached. Once all cores hit their cap, it settled at PPT and EDC levels. The SenseMi chip isn’t built for heavy cooling, so its default auto-frequency stays around 4150mhz with stock limits. However, with high-temperature warnings, it usually drops to 65°C or lower. Ryzen Master adjusts BIOS settings dynamically; some remain until a clean CMOS is detected, then it reverts during startup. Safe mode without networking would work best. It took me several days to resolve this issue.
That's a common scenario for beginners. I remember when I first started out, I wasn't sure what was happening. My bios settings kept getting overwritten, which was confusing. For my PPT TDC and EDC, I just checked the maximum power the CPU could use in HWinfo and adjusted my curve accordingly. It was a different approach from others, but it worked. Plus, you can definitely get a boost of +200, that's awesome!
2700X - Standard Boost 3.9ghz. Peak PBO 4150mhz unless you add +200mhz. My monitor shows 4300mhz with manual settings, all core stable. .... On the regular air cooler (winter mode), performance depends heavily on power usage versus temperature. As always, I've emphasized this point. "If you manage the heat, you can achieve the speed!"
