Windows aims to optimize your SSD by cleaning up data.
It has occurred twice now that I can verify. The first time was during initial installation, and I assumed Windows would automatically detect the SSD and skip defragmentation. However, it did anyway. I adjusted the settings to prevent Windows from defragmenting it, but it still did so recently. Why does Windows attempt defragmentation even when I tell it not to?
From his profile: "Preferred Platform: Windows 10 Professional"
It's not doing a defrag, it's running system maintenance. The "defragging" tool appears with both SSDs and HDDs. Observe how the SSD areas don't mention fragmentation. Also, after launching the program on my SSD, it issued a Trim command.
It seems you're curious about the system maintenance process and its appearance. The visual changes might look like a defragmentation, but they actually indicate the system is optimizing storage or cleaning up files. Let me know if you'd like further clarification!
