Hey everyone, there was an issue at my school recently. They started using pirated Windows 7 and automatic updates last week. The next day everything worked fine until they turned it on. Login icons appeared but clicking one caused a spinning pinwheel effect and a brief flash back to the login screen. Mostly seems like the user server had some trouble, though there’s no evidence of a system-wide problem. Everything is running locally on each machine. I’m not involved with their systems—I’m just a student. Honestly, it looks like Microsoft released that update. I’m using a legal Windows 10 version without issues. It seems to be unrelated to hardware. I even tried Ubuntu from my flash drive and it worked perfectly. Curious if anyone else has faced this issue.

Thanks to MSDN and BizSpark, all my software operates from a compliant Windows version. Many people use the same setup.

They might have stolen a master disc, or perhaps they purchased it for a school, which would explain the low prices.

Is this permissible? A school possessing pirated Windows copies could face significant consequences. Ensure you understand the legal implications.

We don't encourage illegal downloads and I personally don't engage in piracy, so the answer is NO.

It's against the law, but Microsoft has stated they aren't particularly concerned, meaning unless Microsoft takes action, there will be no consequences.

Interesting question! It seems someone might be curious about a school's actions regarding Windows 7.
