Windows 11 is compatible with various processors, but the listed minimum requirements indicate support for certain Intel chips. Checking the full list confirms whether your Core i7-7700K meets the criteria.

Notably, it currently lacks compatibility. Unless it isn't required for Trusted Code Execution, I'm uncertain.

The document mentions Microsoft's list of processors compatible with Windows 11, highlighting support for 8th generation and newer Intel Core chips, as well as Apollo Lake and recent Pentium and Celeron models. It notes that the 7th generation Intel processors are not included.

From what I've gathered, HEDT and TR hardware aren't fully supported, but the community seems to be adapting solutions elsewhere.

I didn't realize it, but only ten series X and connected Xeon models are permitted, which both bothers me because most are essentially the same chip from the 7000 X series generation on the X299, with identical die sizes even in Broadwell-E (which is what I'm using). Now that I understand, I can trigger a bootloader using the 21H1 loader and load the firmware from version 11 onto it.

Microsoft is treating its CPU support as a “soft floor,” offering only limited flexibility. Even with a four-year-old Intel Core i7-7700K, users can still install it, but there are no guarantees about performance or reliability.

This decision isn't wise for Microsoft. It will keep most users stuck with Windows 10 long after its end-of-life, leading to numerous security issues.
