You need to change the disk format from MBR to GPT. There are several methods, but since you probably have Windows 10 installed on the same drive, you won’t be able to do it directly. You’ll have to use a USB installation media and boot into the command prompt to reformat the disk, which isn’t very convenient. Another choice is to reinstall Windows 10 and reformat the drive as GPT during the installation. I believe this should work, though I haven’t tried it before. Alternatively, you could use a different USB drive and install Linux (like Mint or Ubuntu) there, then use their tools to reformat the disk. You might find some YouTube tutorials or guides on converting from MBR to GPT helpful. Good luck!
To launch in UEFI mode, you typically need to configure the system settings beforehand. Make sure all necessary steps are completed first.
Create a GPT partition for UEFI boot. Yes, you need to convert the disk first.
Also, if you want me on Discord for this, it’s simpler with Janathin#7628.
I'm not available for a few hours still today, after which... I'll likely be relaxing or out disc golfing haha. When you used the command "list disk" how many disks showed up? Do you only have 1 drive in your system?
I experienced the same problem too. My system had a 3600 MHz CPU, two drives—one SSD and one traditional—yet Windows 11 wouldn't install no matter what I tried. Eventually, I reinstalled Windows 10 and upgraded to Windows 11 from there, which resolved the issue for me.
The forum provides instructions for transforming a MBR drive into a GPT setup. Windows 10 includes a dedicated utility for this purpose. Highlighted in the Windows section.
