You're using Windows 10 with a Microsoft account linked to your key. If you plan to reinstall or upgrade, Windows will likely activate based on the new installation rather than the old one. You can choose between Windows 10 or Windows 11 during the setup. Since your key is tied to your account, the new version should recognize it unless there are specific activation restrictions. An in-place upgrade isn't strictly necessary like with older versions, but you may need to re-enter your key details during setup.

Reinstall it on your PC using the same Microsoft account. If you open settings and then activation, you should be able to move it from your previous setup. Good luck!

I’ve been setting up Windows 11 by using my Windows 10 credentials linked to my Microsoft account. (I haven’t used Windows 10 recently.)

Use the Windows 10 key while installing Windows 11. It will recognize and apply it automatically.

It should work without requiring a login to your MS account.

To enable it, you'll require a key or digital license. Keep in mind I'm planning a reformat and installation.

Only if you're updating. This person is reinstalling.

I believed the previous version was already there... You probably just need to type in the key or log in. I’m still half-asleep and can’t read.
