I’m thinking about upgrading to Windows 10 for free. Here are my thoughts:
- Many Steam games run on Windows 8 and 7, but will they still work on 10? Games like Skyrim, Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and others should be fine, though early access titles might change.
- Losing downloaded programs isn’t a big deal if you’re careful.
- There are other issues to consider—stability, updates, compatibility with newer software.
- About the personal stuff… well, it’s a personal choice.

I haven't encountered any of these issues before. Since I don't use a VPN, I wouldn't be aware of it. Usually, if a game functions on W8, it should also work on W10. Choosing an in-place upgrade won't delete your files.

Typical applications for Windows 8 tend to function on Windows 10, based on how you manage your data. I recommend saving all crucial files to another drive and performing a fresh installation.

I've been using a fresh Windows 10 setup on a Surface Pro 3 and running into several problems. Few people seem to face the same stuff, so it's hard to say how common they are. I've noticed the computer shutting down unexpectedly while sleeping (not due to updates). The mouse sometimes disconnects on its own and needs re-plugging. Also, it won't sleep automatically if the vJoy driver is installed and turned on. I'm thinking about whether to switch from 7 to 10 soon.

Sure, I've experienced no significant issues thus far. Just give it a try with MSX for a while, and if it doesn't suit you, revert it easily.

Download version 7 immediately, and consider the free upgrade if you plan to switch to version 10.

Only if you upgrade, though. I haven’t tackled any of these questions since a fresh installation.
