No OS specifically recommended, but Ubuntu is a solid option to consider.

they ignore your private records focusing only on general trends from cortana and similar info like visited sites and software. they can access your computer if deemed a security threat, but there’s no mass surveillance network collecting terabytes of data. it’s unlikely they store or read such vast amounts across millions of devices. the main concern comes when illegal activity is suspected, prompting authorities like the FBI to investigate directly.

It seems you're curious about the design choice. There might be a specific reason behind it!

It's their ability to retrieve it on demand that worries me.

it will never get accessed unless you're a criminal its that simple your argument is basically "oh im concerned because the police have access to my house" well yeah of course, but they will only enter when there is a reason for them to so dont do anything high profile, and you're safe... no need to be paranoid

Ubuntu was once considered the top Linux distribution, though opinions have changed. For those who can afford a Mac, it might be a better choice. Updated on December 2, 2015 by Yongtjunkit

since it relies on a Linux script yet appears as Windows, the issue lies in its limitations compared to full Windows functionality. it works well on my non-gaming machine only for assignments and other tasks.
