Prepare for a smooth setup—great drivers and a clean installation. This process may require some time to complete.

MS evaluated 8.1 as a fresh operating system... For my use (especially on a laptop with a multi-touch trackpad and a side-scrolling mouse), 8.1 works well. I value 8.1 because it offered a unique experience, not the usual Windows feel. I enjoyed its different look and the smooth motion, even though it wasn’t perfect in terms of modern design. Functionally, it doesn’t match my current preferences, but it’s still appreciated. The changes between 8.1 and 10 are what matter most to me right now. Some improvements could help, but I appreciate the aspects of 10 that I like.

For a Windows tablet user, this experience is quite disappointing. Running Windows 8/8.1 without a physical keyboard is still problematic, particularly when you need to use more than basic applications. The idea of a virtual keyboard appearing automatically while typing—similar to Android or iOS—should have been abandoned. Having to repeatedly press the keyboard button was really frustrating. The tablet version of Windows 10 significantly improves usability in this regard.
