Hehe, not sure if it's the main reason it's using home versions, but you can give it a shot. If you set up a local user with the shares on the system, preferably using the proper setup—add the user to share and security, assign the necessary rights, and set a password—you can skip the reset password option initially. Just type \\username@computername\share and you should see a password prompt because the name was added. Also, make sure the box for remembering the password is checked.

Begin with a complete domain setup. Note: the home versions won<|pad|>, won't function either for this.

Ensure you have a Windows Server with domain controller services enabled. Attempt to add a local user account on the sharing computer that will access it, assigning each user a hidden share and granting them full permissions within that share. After entering the password, click save password. Your Windows Pro machine should operate as a file-sharing server.

Start with the pro computer, log in as a local user. Make as many users as needed for each computer. Set up folders for every user. When setting up the share, use the username followed by $ instead of typing the full name—this keeps it hidden. Add all users to the share, but restrict access by assigning read/write permissions only. Repeat this process for each user. On every computer, place the shared drive at \\username@computername\username$ and enter the password. Confirm the password field before saving.

Felt nervous about that... likely due to the fact it's home editions.

Both machines I'm working on are high-end models. The host runs Pro, and the user or guest trying to connect is also using a Pro version.
