It seems like you're comparing the FX 8350 and the Intel i5 4690. The FX 8350 should handle heavy tasks well.

It could delay my purchase of the 5820K for my X99 board, maybe I need the 596... but I can't pay more than a thousand dollars unless I have to give up something valuable.

An Intel Hex or Octacore outperforms a standard Intel Quad Core, while a regular Intel Quad Core surpasses both an AMD quad and octacore.

The 8350 performs well in scenarios that make use of every thread available, though most games might struggle to match its efficiency. Adding overclocking could further boost the 4690k's performance in those tests.

The 4790K remains superior to the 8350, even when using DX12.

I believe the excitement around DX12 is excessive, similar to past DX releases.

The genuine AMD octacores came exclusively from the "16" core opteron server CPUs.

The i5 4440 already performs well with the FX 8350 in games, and receiving the same enhancement as the FX 8350 won’t hide its outdated look and feel. (The FX 9590 is irrelevant, and the FX 8320’s factory version is outdated.)

It's actually eight modules with sixteen iCores—essentially a 16-core setup, though we're being pretty tough on the customers.
