Windows 10 manages startup programs automatically.
I recently updated Windows 1709 and noticed something unusual. When I powered off my PC while it was running and then restarted, it would automatically open the programs I had left open before shutdown. This is making my startup time much longer and loading extra applications that I no longer need. I haven’t found a fix online and suspect I might be using incorrect search terms. If anyone has any advice, it would be really helpful. Also, I don’t have any installed programs that seem to trigger this issue.
It does happen for me, but I usually just overlook it and quickly stop thinking about it. Is there a way to turn it off?
Yes it does for me too. So far this feature cannot be disable of the option for it isn't discovered yet. There is a feature called "Improved Boot up experience" But that only has to do with automatic login, has nothing to do with this annoying autostarting of programs. Let's say I have FireFox open when I shutdown. When I power my system back on and login, FireFox will immediately open back up. Now if I close off FireFox and then shutdown. FireFox will not automatically relaunch after I turn on my system. I know that OSX has this feature too, but they do have a option to disable it in the shutdown dialogue box.
Have you checked if turning off certain apps in Task Manager's startup section helps?
I also have it, but it keeps happening. Here’s what my start manager is like... The program there has an issue, even though Microsoft Visual Studio isn’t the main problem.
