Windows 10 is waiting to prepare but won’t shut down your computer.
Hello, I see you're experiencing a problem with Windows 10 freezing during the startup process. It's been about an hour since it became unresponsive.
Do you need to perform an upgrade? (Windows is already set up and you're preserving your personal data.) (Or are you doing a fresh installation?)
If you have to you can probably reboot without messing much up. It might go through startup repair and there is a chance you will have to repair install, but I'm not sure of much else you can do.
If it's an EUEFI setup, don't restart. The installation will fail and Windows may become damaged. For an upgrade, this is typical since files are copied into a Windows.old folder; for a fresh install, it usually happens quickly—just begin again. Clear the partitions and perform a clean install.
No guarantees, but its pretty likely that it will be fine. I mean, you can't exactly leave the computer on until the components start failing.
Sure, your Windows 10 system has been running for quite some time now, especially with a 5400 RPM drive.
It seems the software repositions files during installation, moving .old to the back and windows files to the front. With a large number of gigabytes on an HDD, the process can be lengthy—about 3 to 4 hours for 250 GB. I wish I had performed a clean install instead.
