It's performing an update instead of an upgrade. I believe an update wouldn't affect the Windows.old directory. If it continues for another hour, restart and hope for the best.

You're experiencing the same problem again after reinstalling Norton. It's showing an infinite message for about an hour. You might want to check the installation process or see if there are any updates available.
