So I get this in an email from microsoft... since when is it ok to no longer support your current operating system? This is a completely new blatent way to force updates even more so then they already have. Has anybody else seen something similar to this? I tried looking up articles on this but couldn't find much.

Check your Windows 10 version through Settings – the software is updated as a service, so you must upgrade to the newest OS whenever they release updates.

I've been using Windows 10 for some time now. It seems like I need updates constantly until the platform can no longer support it.

Previously supported versions before Windows 10 v1709 will end up unsupported or EOL soon. Check the official sources for details. Microsoft’s shift to a Windows-as-a-Service approach means versions older than 1709 won’t receive updates. For more on service-date extensions, refer to the articles linked above.

Verify the genuine recipient's email. I've encountered numerous phishing attempts from "Microsoft." This appears to be a likely scam, closely resembling the one shown.

It looks like a very brief support window, even for a service-based offering I examined closely—it seems to align with what Microsoft usually does, which is why I didn’t dig deeper at first.

Perhaps I’m aware that 1607 is set to end its support, but with the number of “support” and “account” messages I receive from different firms, I tend to examine these details closely.

Visit Microsoft's site directly. If needed, reach out to Microsoft. It's preferable over handling emails...
